Grandma Had Good Snacks

I remember there was almost always a frosted sheet cake on top of the refrigerator. Why on top I do not know, maybe so only Grandma could reach it!

She also almost always had a pot roast in the refrigerator that we could pull off pieces and snack on. Grandma also made the absolute GREATEST fried sliced red potatoes!!! She called the red ones, Nebraska potatoes, not sure why on that either. I sure wish I knew how she made those!

She had a lemon tree in the back yard and during the right time of year she'd make us lemonade.

Grandma had four daughters and one son. Each got married and she ended up with 11 grandchildren. I am told that at one point she had a note (or maybe big sign) up in the kitchen with the foods her kids or kids-in-laws did not like or liked.

I have also been told she liked it if a little food was left on the plate, that way she knew no one left the table hungry.

Since many of her kids and grand kids did live nearby she would get a huge turkey for Thanksgiving and have to start it in the wee hours of the morning.

Well, those are about all the food memories I have right now.

(I signed it this way for you Andi) :)
